I know you mentioned that your poor cat has passed, but I want to remind you of something... Altough they haven't hurt eachother, it is always possible for an attack. It is instinct for the cat to want to pounce, and you are very lucky that it has not happened. Mammals saliva is deathly toxic to birds. Please be careful in the future with your budgies.
